Kennedy Center's new programming head steps down days after appointment
WASHINGTON (7News) — The Senior Vice President of Artistic Programming at the Trump Kennedy Center has stepped down from the role just days after being appointed, according to a report by the Associated Press
The Kennedy Center announced Kevin Couch was taking the position on Jan. 16. His role would have been to "lead strategic artistic planning across disciplines and broaden the Center’s national and international partnerships."
It is unclear, at this point, why Couch decided to resign so suddenly. 7News has reached out to the Kennedy Center for comment.
Couch's exit comes as the performing arts venue faces a number of cancellations, with the most recent being composer Philip Glass.

“Symphony No. 15 is a portrait of Abraham Lincoln, and the values of the Kennedy Center today are in direct conflict with the message of the Symphony,” Glass said in a statement released by his publicist. “Therefore, I feel an obligation to withdraw this Symphony premiere from the Kennedy Center under its current leadership.”
Soprano Renée Fleming also withdrew from two scheduled May appearances, the Associated Press reported.
On Dec. 18, the center's Board of Trustees voted to rename the Kennedy Center to the "Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts."
President Trump was named the Board Chair at the Kennedy Center in February, replacing former Chair David M. Rubenstein.
