Rhode Island State Police arrest 2 after drug investigation

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Rhode Island State Police said two people were arrested after a drugs investigation in Providence.
According to state police, they executed court-authorized search warrants and arrested 53-year-old Jose Santiago Torres and 43-year-old Jesus A. Carreras Castro on Tuesday.

Authorities said they also found and seized 2 kilograms of cocaine, 5,000 fentanyl pills, one firearm and drug packaging material.
The two are facing various drug charges.
“These seizures are the direct result of collaborative efforts between numerous law enforcement agencies assisting the Rhode Island State Police in their pursuit of violent, and often armed narcotics distributors,” the Rhode Island State Police said in a statement.
