Officers said the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Jimmy Estrada, barricaded himself inside a bathroom before making statements that raised concern for self-harm.

According to police, Estrada also claimed to be in possession of a firearm.

Police said after two hours, he voluntarily complied and was taken into custody.

Estrada was transported to a hospital and was then transferred to police.

He was charged with domestic violence and assault.

NBC 10 spoke with one neighbor who says the victim came to her front door asking for help.

"I'm still in shock honestly," she said. "I hope she's okay and I hope that everything for her will turn out good."
