Coventry woman pleads no contest to animal cruelty charge

A Coventry woman pleaded no contest to an animal cruelty charge.

Police said 25-year-old Caitlyn Pelton was identified as the dog's owner.

Officers said they found a male German Shepherd named "Hanz" confined to a sunroom.

Coventry Animal Control officers said they responded to Circlewood Drive on Dec. 19 to conduct a wellbeing check.

Officers said they found a male German Shepherd named "Hanz" confined to a sunroom.

Officers said there was no signs that the dog had access to food or water.

Animal Control officers took custody of the dog and transported him to the hospital for treatment.

"Hanz" has been adopted into a new family.

Pelton was ordered 50 hours of community service and will forfeit any other animals in her care.
