Man accused of breaking into, stealing from restaurant in Fall River

Fall River police said man was arrested last Friday after allegedly breaking into a restaurant.

According to police, they received a report of a break-in at Fiesta Mexican Restaurant on 207 Rhode Island Ave. on Jan. 12.

Officials said the suspect had gotten in by breaking a glass panel on the front door.

Surveillance footage showed the suspect crawling through the broken door, entering the restaurant, removing a cash lockbox from the counter area, and fleeing the scene, Fall River police said.

Police said they obtained more surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residents, and were able to track the suspect's movements.

Officers later found a mask on Montaup Street that matched the one the suspect was seen wearing.

Fall River police said they were able to obtain footage of the suspect's face and identified him as 63-year-old John Lengyel.

He was arrested last Friday.

Official sad he is facing charges of breaking and entering a building and larceny from a building.
