Norton man gets prison sentence in child pornography and extortion case
(WJAR) — A Norton man has been sentenced to serve time in prison in a child pornography and extortion case from last year.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s office says 24-year-old Michael Edmonds was sentenced to 5 to 7 years in prison at a recent hearing at Fall River Superior Court.
The sentence will be followed by 10 years of supervised probation.
This is due to pleading guilty to Possession of child pornography, extortion, enticing a child under the age of 16, and attempting to commit a crime of posing a nude child.
The case started on March 26, 2025 when the 13-year-old victim and her father reported that she was being extorted by an individual with a Snapchat account.
"The defendant is a very perverted individual who by his own admission cannot control his very disturbed mind,” said Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn in a statement. “He has previously been convicted for several deviant sexual crimes and was on probation at the time these crimes were committed. “
