While at Lifetime’s “Love of a Lifetime” event in Los Angeles for his movie “Be Happy,” Phifer told PauseRewind’s entertainment reporter Courtney Tezeno about his time on “ER” and if he has plans for a role on “The Pitt” with his former costar.

When asked about a potential cameo on the HBO show, Phifer told Tezeno, “I would love it. Those [guys] are my old crew, my old guys. I love Noah Wyle, such a talent I loved working with him on ‘ER,’ we had such a great time. I would definitely do it, just for the fun of it.”

He elaborated on the hopes of his role, “I don't know if I would be a doctor. Maybe I, maybe I'd be a patient that has an arc, maybe a few episode arc as a patient, you know, because it'd be kind of weird with both doctors. You know, we work so well together and work so intimately on that show together, and we have so many, so much scenes and dialogue together. So, probably be a patient or something like that. I like that.”

Dr. Pratt’s death on “ER” sent shockwaves through the TV world and for Phifer he thought his death was “respectful” for his character.

“And you know, to go out in that last season in such a big way was very respectful for me, for John Wells, because I was going to do Broadway, so I couldn't stay the whole last season. So John Wells and his writing team, and Chris Chulak and all those guys, David Zabel, they did such a great job with sort of ending it with a crescendo, so that it ended Dr. Pratt’s reign with a big bang, if you will.”

Mekhi Phifer, best known for his roles in "8 Mile" and as Dr. Greg Pratt on NBC's "ER," filed for bankruptcy in April 2014 after racking up approximately $1.2 million in back taxes, $50,000 in lawyer fees and $4,500 in back child support.

Here’s to hoping Phifer and Wyle reunite for a future episode of “The Pitt.”

Phifer’s film "Mary J Blige Presents Be Happy" premieres Feb 7 on Lifetime.
