Walgreens begins to sell vapes for the first time in seven years: report
WASHINGTON (TNND) — Walgreens has started to sell vapes again for the first time since 2019 when they pulled them from their shelves.
According to a report from Bloomberg, vapes will be sold in about 6,000 Walgreens out of almost 8,000 nationwide.
Walgreens said it would be offering “compliant products” for consumers who are adults, citing the changes are due to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorizing multiple vaping products in 2021.
While many Walgreens locations sell cigarettes, some local governments don’t allow it since Walgreens and other stores like CVS are considered pharmacies.
Walgreens wasn’t the only store that pulled vapes from their shelves in 2019.
CVS and Walmart stopped selling vapes due to concerns about younger people using them.
Last year, there was a massive concern about vape usage from teenagers.
In November of 2019, one doctor said that vaping was highly addictive for specifically young people.
“It’s especially addictive for youth because the vapes have higher nicotine concentrations than the cigarettes do,” Dr. Dan Doyle said.
