Trump's goal is to scale back and eventually pull ICE out of Minnesota: report

President Donald Trump will scale back and eventually pull Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) out of Minnesota, according to sources.

Border Czar Tom Homan met with Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz on Tuesday following chaos in the state following the death of Alex Pretti.

Pretti was killed by federal immigration officers while protesting Trump’s immigration policies.

Trump said his administration was looking into the matter, but the president was critical of Pretti for bringing a gun to the protest.

A source told Reuters exclusively that Homan taking charge of immigration enforcement in Minnesota is to “recalibrate tactics” with deportations.

"The goal is to scale back, eventually pull out," the source told Reuters.

An official in the Trump administration reportedly told Reuters that Homan would take a traditional approach to deportations instead of going to different cities in the U.S. and doing neighborhood sweeps.

Trump also clarified Tuesday that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem would not be stepping down from her position.

Pretti is the second individual who died in Minnesota during an immigration crackdown.

Renee Good was fatally shot by a federal agent while she was in her car. The Department of Homeland Security said she was shot because she tried to run the agent over with her car.
