Trump says the DOJ is looking into Rep. Ilhan Omar for allegedly being worth $44 million
WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump on Monday announced that the Department of Justice and Congress will be “looking into” Democratic Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
“Additionally, the DOJ and Congress are looking at “Congresswoman” Illhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars,” Trump wrote on TRUTH Social Monday morning.
In the same announcement, he also said that border czar Tom Homan would be going into Minnesota this evening.
“He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there. Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly to me,” Trump’s TRUTH post reads.
Earlier this month, House Republicans launched an investigation into Omar’s finances.
The probe, first reported by the New York Post, is about how Omar’s household assets increased by a large amount during her time in office.
The Post said the lawyers are looking into on how Omar and her husband Tim Mynett "went from nearly broke to being worth up to $30 million in just a year," citing disclosure documents from 2024.
Last month, Omar denied reports that she was a millionaire.
"Since getting elected, there has been a coordinated right-wing disinformation campaign claiming all sorts of wild things, including the ridiculous claim I am worth millions of dollars which is categorically false," Omar said during an interview with Business Insider.
