Suspect accused of smashing windows at Minneapolis Courthouse arrested: FBI
MINNEAPOLIS (TNND) — A suspect accused of smashing windows at the Minneapolis Courthouse during a protest following the deadly shooting of Renee Nicole Good was arrested, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
FBI Director Kash Patel on Thursday identified the suspect as Georgio James-Jones, of Minneapolis.
"As we’ve said repeatedly -- if you attack law enforcement, impede their operations, or engage in violent destructive behavior, this FBI will find you and bring you to justice," Patel wrote on X.
Patel said James-Jones tried to breach the courthouse during the protest on January 7, which was the same day as Good was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.
Video shared on social media appears to show James-Jones, as well as several other ICE rioters who were seen pounding on the doors of the Diana E. Murphy federal courthouse.
"ICE out now," the protesters are heard yelling as they bang on the windows and revolving door.
A little more than one-minute into the video, glass is heard shattering. There is a brief pause in the chanting before the group resumes hollering, blowing whistles and banging drums.
Patel also announced the FBI’s is offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information related to a separate case of vandalism and theft of government property in Minneapolis on Wednesday night.
In an FBI flyer, the agency noted that the vandalism occurred after DHS said a federal officer shot an illegal immigrant in the leg after being attacked with a shovel or broom during a Minneapolis arrest.
The flyer noted that several government vehicles were broken into and vandalized, adding that government property was also stolen.
"If you harm law enforcement or destroy / steal federal property this @FBI will not hesitate to pursue you, find you, and bring you to the fullest extent of justice," he wrote.
The agent who shot and killed Good was identified as Jonathan Ross. The Department of Homeland Security said he fired his gun after Good allegedly tried to ram him and other officers with her SUV.
Ross reportedly suffered internal bleeding when he was hit by her vehicle.
