Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said that Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somali nationals living in the U.S. will end.

Somali migrants who have TPS will be ordered to leave the U.S. by March 17.

"Temporary means temporary," Noem said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

"Country conditions in Somalia have improved to the point that it no longer meets the law’s requirement for Temporary Protected Status."

She said that letting Somali nationals to remain in the country is against the national interests of the U.S.

"We are putting Americans first,” she said.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services sources told Fox News Digital that 2,472 Somali nationals have TPS status and 1,383 have pending TPS applications.

This news comes amid the federal probe into the state of Minnesota with alleged fraud in daycare centers, mostly run by Somalis.

Last month, YouTuber Nick Shirley went around to multiple daycare centers in Minneapolis and noted that many of them appeared vacant.

He alleged that taxpayers were funding these daycare centers, prompting the Trump administration to act.

On Monday, Noem announced that more Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents would be sent to Minneapolis for a large immigration operation.
