Comparisons between Alex Pretti, Kyle Rittenhouse go viral on social media after shooting

KENOSHA, WISCONSIN - NOVEMBER 18: Kyle Rittenhouse speaks with his attorneys before the jury is relieved for the evening during his trial at the Kenosha County Courthouse on November 18, 2021 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Rittenhouse is accused of shooting three demonstrators, killing two of them, during a night of unrest that erupted in Kenosha after a police officer shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back while being arrested in August 2020. Rittenhouse, from Antioch, Illinois, was 17 at the time of the shooting and armed with an assault rifle. He faces counts of felony homicide and felony attempted homicide. Following the death of Alex Pretti who was killed by immigration officers, many users on social media compared what happened to him to choices made by Kyle Rittenhouse.

Pretti was killed by immigration officers while protesting President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. The Trump administration said they were looking into the matter, but the president criticized Pretti for bringing a gun to the protest.

Rittenhouse made headlines in 2020 when he shot three people during a riot in Wisconsin. Two of the people were killed and one was injured. He ended up being acquitted of murder charges in 2021 and argued the shooting was in self defense.

Left-leaning individuals on social media said the right defending Rittenhouse is hypocrisy, while Pretti was just a peaceful protester, according to The New York Times.

“Kyle Rittenhouse showed up to a protest like this and Republicans called him a hero,” Isaiah Martin, a former Democratic candidate for Congress in Texas, wrote on X over the weekend.

Daily Wire host and conservative commentator Matt Walsh said the comparisons between Rittenhouse and Pretti were “retarded.”

“This is retarded,” he said.

“Rittenhouse wasn’t interfering with law enforcement. He was only there because law enforcement was nowhere to be found. It’s literally the exact opposite situation.”

Kyle Rittenhouse on Monday weighed in on the controversial death of Alex Pretti who was killed by immigration officers.

“The same people wanting to silence me are now begging me to comment,” Rittenhouse wrote on X Monday evening.

“My comment: Communists are gay. And anti-2A people are gay. Biden’s failed open borders policies created this ENTIRE mess.”

In a separate social media post, Rittenhouse also posted that the Second Amendment shall not be infringed upon.

“Carry everywhere,” he wrote on X. “It is your right.”

Pretti's death comes after the death of Renee Good, who was also killed by a federal agent in Minnesota.

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security said Good tried to run over the officer with her car which is why the shooting happened.
