Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced that a Woonsocket man was sentenced to prison for assaulting and robbing his former employer.

According to officials, 41-year-old Muhammad Sheikh was sentenced to two years in prison and three years of supervised probation.

Prosecutors said on July 18, 2025, Sheikh went to King Smoke Shop on 245 State Road in Dartmouth and got into an argument with an employee.

Sheikh had been recently terminated from his job there.

Officials said Sheikh demanded to speak to the person that fired him.

The employee called the manager and handed over the phone, where Sheikh got angry and threw the phone at the employee after the call, prosecutors said.

The district attorney's office said Sheikh also threw a cash register before leaving the store and waiting in his vehicle.

When the manager came to the shop, officials said Sheikh followed him in and began threatening to kill the manager and the employee.

Prosecutors said Sheikh took out a knife and made a lunging motion in their direction.

He then stole the cash register from King Smoke Shop and Kun Kabob and Curry restaurant in Fall River, which is owned by the same family.
