Pedestrian, passenger struck during police pursuit in Providence
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — The Providence Police Department said that a pedestrian and passenger were struck during a police pursuit Friday.
Police said the pursuit began on Reagent Avenue during an investigating into a narcotics complaint.
The suspect fled from police and struck a pedestrian who was pushing a shopping cart in the area of Valley Street.
The department said the pursuit ended on Dean Street and Broadway and the passenger of the vehicle was struck by the suspect while attempting to flee.
The suspect was taken into custody after the vehicle crashed and no serious injuries were reported.
Police said the suspect was found to be in possession of narcotics when searched at the hospital.
