Sunday's snowstorm is one some New Englanders have been dreading, but for out-of-towners, it is a chance to experience something new.

A brave group of Johnson & Wales University students was not fazed by snow piling up on sidewalks in Providence.

"I'm from Virginia, so this is more snow than I see on the regular," Nicole Squitieri said.

"And I'm from Charleston, we only get snow every ten years, I think," Juliet Basinger added.

One student from Texas noted that they were determined to see the sights despite the elements.

"I just really wanted to see the Capitol building since we had some extra time," Eden Snow said. "It's so pretty. I love the snow."

Other visitors said the snow threw a wrench in their weekend plans.

The whiteout conditions and fast accumulation made travel near impossible, with most all downtown businesses closing shop.

"We tried to go shopping at the mall, but it turns out basically everything is closed because nobody wants to go to work," George Yie said.

Yie, who was visiting from northern China, said he's used to snow.

"It's pretty fun for us," he said. "The only thing that I think is going to be better is if we carry on a snowboard or something, that would be much better."
