New Bedford police seize firearm after motor vehicle stop

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WJAR) — The New Bedford Police Union said that a 20-year-old was arrested for allegedly being in possession of a stolen firearm during a motor vehicle stop on Jan. 27.
Tyler Dubois was stopped while operating a vehicle after police allegedly found information that he was in possession of a firearm.
Dubois was stopped for "civil motor vehicle infractions" and removed from his car.
The union said a search allegedly found a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm firearm, with seven round of ammunition.
The gun was reportedly stolen out of Fall River.
