Cumberland fire caused by wood stove ashes in combustible container, officials say

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WJAR) — Fire officials released the cause of a house fire that injured one person on Saturday.
The State Fire Marshal said the fire on Roland Street was caused by a wood stove ashes put into a combustible receptacle.

According to Cumberland Fire Department, a person who was inside the home at the time of the fire was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
A pet that was inside the home died.
Firefighters said on Saturday that the fire started outside the building and moved inside.
The house is believed to be a total loss.
