Students and faculty at Bryant University are mourning two students killed in a wrong-way crash Sunday morning.

The crash happened on Route 146 in Lincoln, killing Jaylin Rainford and David Okonkwo.

Police said a wrong-way driver, identified as Denis Campo of Chelsea, Massachusetts, struck their vehicle head-on.

Rob Scaro said he was Okonkwo's basketball coach at Lexington Christian Academy in Massachusetts.

"He was a really special kid," said Scaro. "He was one of those kids who really brought people together and lifted up people around him."

Rainford was a track and field athlete at Bryant.

The department said, "Jaylin, a member of the Bryant track and field program, is remembered as a talented athlete, a leader, and a young man who brought joy to those around him."

The University is offering counseling for students and faculty.

Scaro said one way to honor Okonkwo is by striving to live everyday like he did.

"Which was focused on other people, getting involved, being friendly, being outgoing, being somebody that tried to make the lives of other people a little easier and a little bit more joyful," he said.
