Abused Coventry German Shepherd gets adopted
"Hanz" after recovering at Coventry Animal Control.
COVENTRY, R.I. (WJAR) — Coventry Animal Control said that the German Shephard who was seized from a woman on Dec. 19, 2025 after a wellbeing check was adopted Friday.
The dog, who was named Hanz, was under the care of animal control after he was found confined to a sunroom in a house on Circlewood Drive.
He was found without food or water, and his ribs, hips and spine were visible.
Animal control said that his former owner, 25-year-old Caitlyn Pelton, was charged with unnecessary cruelty to animal, care of dogs (failure to provide adequate food or water), and rabies vaccination required.
