New 'Suddenly Amish' trailer teases romance, tears, trust issues, and a pig chase
We’re only one episode into “Suddenly Amish,” and things are off to a rocky start for our Amish hopefuls.
Straight away, the cast has been jolted by the harsh realities of Amish life. There is much, much more to learn about the lifestyle, and as a new supertease showed, way more drama, pigs, and axes than anyone thought.
In the beginning of the clip, Judah admits, “This might be harder than I expected” before we see him terrorized by a pig as he flees the barn.
Then we get a glimpse of the budding romance between Kendra and Matt, which Billie Jo clocks pretty easily.
But it’s not hard to miss when Kendra watches as Matt tends to a garden and yells, “Wow look at that nice Amish farmer we got here.” She also says in another clip, “If the opportunity presents itself, maybe”
And not all the Amish are as conservative as we thought! Billie Jo, already a fan of the culture, meets an Amish man with pierced nipples. Seems crazy modern to us, but we’ll have to wait until later in the season to find out more.
Of course, this wouldn’t be a reality series without plenty of crying and fighting. The participants are considering a major life change, but some struggle, like Esme, who says through tears, “There’s just so much judgement and what you can and can’t doI’m really struggling. I feel like I’m losing every part of me.”
There is also a nighttime moment in the house where three participants argue about who they trust, followed by a clip of Matt being escorted off the property.
“He’s chasing me with a f—king axe,” he notes, rather calmly.
We’ll find out by the end of the season if anyone is willing to fully commit to the lifestyle.
“Joining the Amish is a decision for life,” Bishop Vernon warns.
“Suddenly Amish” airs Tuesdays on TLC.
