Snowbanks hinder firefighters at North Smithfield house fire

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WJAR) — A heavy fire broke out inside a home in North Smithfield Wednesday night.
Fire officials said they responded to Mattity Road at 7:30 p.m. for reports of a fire.
Officials said two people inside the home were able to safely evacuate.

Firefighters said the flames appeared to originate from the boiler room.
The entire house suffered from smoke damage.
Fire officials said high snow banks made it difficult to extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported.
Officials said the fire was caused by a boiler malfunction.
