Freezing rain and ice overnight have caused widespread damage across Nashville Electric Service’s (NES) service territory, leaving about 210,000 customers without power. Ice accumulation has weighed down trees, causing them to snap and bring down power lines.

As of 7:30 p.m., NES crews are working around the clock to restore power, with contract crews assisting in the effort.

The utility reported at least 76 broken poles and more than 70 distribution circuits out, with fewer than 35 circuits affecting over 2,000 customers each.

Since Sunday, crews have been operating in continuous rotations, working 14- to 16-hour shifts to respond quickly to outages.

Nearly 300 lineworkers are expected to be deployed across the service area on Monday, along with supplemental contracted vegetation management crews to help ensure safe and efficient access to damaged lines.

NES and city officials are urging residents to stay safe.

NES says customers can stay updated by checking the NES outage map, by texting OUT to 637797 (NESPWR) from the phone number linked to your account, or by calling (615) 234 0000.

Here's the power outage totals as of 7:30 p.m.:

Tri County Electric – 32,307 without power

CEMC – 23,962 without power

MTE – 15,282 without power

CPWS – 1,331 without power
