South Bend man sentenced to 65 years after murdering 11 year old boy

SOUTH BEND, IN (WSBT 22) — A South Bend man has been sentenced for the murder of an 11-year-old boy in 2023.
A jury found then 18 year old Dominick Williams Jr., of South Bend guilty for the murder of T’yon Horston.

Williams was sentenced to 65 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.

According to court documents, 11 year old T'yon Horston was shot multiple times on April 20th, 2023, on the 600 block of North Johnson Street.
“We know Dominick Williams was in the 600 block of north Johnson and he shot at a group of individuals standing outside. Unfortunately, an 11-year-old boy was shot and killed during that time and through the investigation we were able to track him and identify him and now arrest him for that crime,” said Captain Jason Biggs of the South Bend Police Department in May 2023 .
During the sentencing a fight broke out that included friends and family of both Williams and the victim causing the St. Joseph County Courthouse to be cleared.
Police say a 17-year-old was taken into custody after a a detective was body checked.
