West Virginia woman accused of plotting to assassinate Donald Trump on social media

(WCHS) -- A woman was arrested for allegedly plotting to assassinate the President of the United States on social media, deputies said.
Morgan L. Morrow, 39, of Ripley was arrested Sunday evening following an investigation by deputies and the Jackson County Bureau of Investigations, according to a social media post from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said Morrow allegedly used social media to recruit "individuals to pursue and assassinate" President Donald Trump. She was charged with making threats of terroristic acts.
According to a criminal complaint, deputies were made aware of a social media post where Morrow said in a caption “surely a sniper with a terminal illness can’t be a big ask out of 343 million.”
“Based on the content, context and wording of the post, the statement was interpreted as advocating and encouraging the assassination of the President of the United States," the complaint said.
Deputies said Morrow admitted to making the post in an interview following her arrest. Although Morrow said she did not intend or plan to personally carry out the threat, “her statement nonetheless constituted a communicated threat of a terroristic act,” the complaint said.
Morrow worked at the Jackson County Public Library, which said in a social media post Wednesday that she is no longer employed there.
She is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail on a $75,000 bond.
Deputies said more information on the incident will be released as facts continue to come together and the investigation continues.
