Individual in critical condition after Arizona shooting allegedly involving Border Patrol
ARIZONA (TNND) — A person is in critical condition after being shot in an incident allegedly involving the U.S. Border Patrol in Arizona on Tuesday.
The individual shot has not been identified yet, according to a statement from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. The shooting took place in southern Pima County around 7:30 a.m., according to a news release by the Santa Rita Fire District.
What took place before the shooting is not clear yet; there have not been any reports of whether any law enforcement officers have been injured in the incident.
Members from the Santa Rita Fire District and American Medical Response provided the shot individual with medical care on the scene.
"Patient care was transferred to a local medical helicopter for rapid transport to a regional trauma center," the Santa Rita Fire Department said. "The incident remains under active investigation by law enforcement agencies."
Tuesday’s shooting comes a mere three days after Border Patrol officers in Minneapolis fatally shot Alex Pretti and a few weeks after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot and killed Renee Nicole Good.
Federal immigration officers have reportedly shot 12 people since September in the wake of DHS ramping up deportation operations around the U.S. Following the shootings that have taken place, people across the country have taken to the streets to protest, even calling for the firing of DHS Sec. Kristi Noem.
