Gov. Healey urges patience as state responds to 'long-duration' storm
Gov. Maura Healey said Sunday that the state will have up to 3,000 pieces of equipment clearing highways across Massachusetts during the snowstorm.
The governor urged people to stay off the roads to give snowplow crews room to work.
"Not a storm to be out in," she said. "Watch the Pats."
The New England Patriots faced the Denver Broncos in Sunday's AFC title game at 3 p.m.
She asked people to be patient after the storm ends as crews work to finish cleanup, which could take hours.
Healey described the storm as long-duration.
She said the state was not concerned about widespread power outages. She said some of the outages reported Sunday morning were caused by cars crashing into utility poles.
The MBTA said it was taking steps to keep mass transit moving during the storm.
Tractor-trailer trucks, box trucks, RVs and similar vehicles were banned from travel in Massachusetts as of noon.
