To mark the first anniversary of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement strategy, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced a new voluntary departure incentive.

Illegal immigrants who leave the U.S. on their own will be eligible for a $2,600 exit payment, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said.

"To celebrate one year of this administration, the U.S. taxpayer is generously increasing the incentive to leave voluntarily for those in this country illegally -- offering a $2,600 exit bonus," Noem wrote on X.
"Illegal aliens should take advantage of this gift and self-deport because if they don’t, we will find them, we will arrest them, and they will never return," she noted.

She shared the news on social media Thursday morning, adding that "tens of thousands" have used the CBP Home program.

Noem also said at least 2.2 million illegal immigrants have voluntarily self-deported since January 2025.

The news comes as President Donald Trump is celebrating the completion of his first year back in office. Trump said if he hadn’t been reelected, the U.S. would have been destroyed “fairly quickly," adding that he inherited a country that was "broken" thanks to former President Joe Biden.

But Trump said he took a "mess" and turned it all around for the better.

"We have a lot of accomplishments," Trump said at the start of a news briefing on Tuesday, also noting that "we've done more than any administration has done by far."

As he spoke, Trump held up several mugshots and photos of illegal criminal immigrants who were recently arrested amid his ongoing crime crackdown in Minnesota. He said a majority of them are murderers or guilty of other violent crimes.

"These people are all people who came from outside of the country," he said. "They were let in by sleepy or crooked Joe Biden -- whatever you want to call him."

The White House praised Trump's major accomplishments of 2025, saying he "delivered truly transformative results."

The White House also shared a document on its website that listed Trump's "365 Wins in 365 Days." It noted that his return to office has marked "a new ear of success and prosperity."

"From negative net migration for the first time in 50 years to the largest homicide drop on record, trillions in reshored investments, peace deals ending multiple wars, record energy production, and massive bureaucracy cuts, President Trump has put America First with urgency -- and he’s just getting started," the White House noted in the release.
