California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom had conservative host Ben Shapiro on his podcast in an episode that will air Thursday.

The episode will air 4 p.m. PST on Tuesday, according to Shapiro.

“I spoke with Gavin Newsom about how he is running the state,” Shapiro wrote on X.

“As you can see in this video... there are some issues here. Interview drops 4PM PST.”

In the video attached, Shapiro is in a car and outside the window is a homeless person.

Newsom promoted the podcast on his Instagram.

He has had other conservative guests on his podcast, including former Trump strategist Steve Bannon and Turning Point USA President Charlie Kirk.

Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University on Sep. 10, 2025.

It has been speculated that Newsom will consider running for president after the 2026 midterms.

During a CBS News interview last year, host Jonathan Karl asked the governor if he had given a presidential campaign “serious thought.”

“Yeah, I'd be lying otherwise,” he said.

“I’d just be lying, and I can’t do that.”

Other potential Democratic presidential candidates for 2028 include former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, and New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, according to The Guardian.
