Apple cider vinegar? Police identify potential substance sprayed at Rep. Ilhan Omar
WASHINGTON (TNND) — Authorities said they believe the liquid that was sprayed at Rep. Ilhan Omar during a Minnesota town hall meeting was apple cider vinegar, according to a report.
Citing an unnamed source, CNN confirmed the news on Wednesday.
The suspect was identified as 55-year-old Anthony James Kazmierczak. He was charged with third-degree assault.
The incident happened on Tuesday night and was caught on camera. Video shows the moment the suspect approached Omar as she was speaking at a podium and sprayed the substance in her direction.

"During her town hall, an agitator tried to attack the Congresswoman by spraying an unknown substance with a syringe," Omar's office said in a statement shortly after she was sprayed.
"Security and the Minneapolis Police Department quickly apprehended the individual. He is now in custody," the statement noted. "The Congresswoman is okay. She continued with her town hall because she doesn’t let bullies win.”
Right before she was sprayed, Omar called for the abolishment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the firing or impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem following the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
“ICE cannot be reformed,” Omar said, seconds before the attack.
