Route 6 closed in Westport after multiple crashes

WESTPORT, Mass. (WJAR) — Route 6 west and eastbound in Westport between Davis Road is closed after three crashes Tuesday night.
Police said all three crashes happened within the same hour.
According to police, a semi-truck was involved in one of the crashes, causing diesel fuel to spill onto the roadway.
Hazardous materials crews responded to contain the spill.
Police said during the investigation of one of the crashes, a Westport police cruiser was struck.
The officer was not injured.
Several people from the first two collisions were transported with non life-threatening injuries to nearby hospitals.
Officials said a section of Route 6 was closed for approximately three hours.
