The New England Wildlife Center said a Providence man found a large tegu while shoveling his driveway.
The resident brought the lizard to the wildlife center and transported to ET Reptiles.
Doctors said the tegu was extremely weak and underweight.
Veterinarians gradually warmed the tegu at room temperature.
The lizard appeared to suffer from frostbite on his tongue and muscle weakness from prolonged exposure to the cold.
It is unclear where the lizard came from.
Anyone with information is asked to call the New England Wildlife Center or ET Reptiles.
