Providence city councilors to introduce rent stabilization ordinance during meeting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Members of the Providence City Council will be introducing Rent Stabilization Act during its regular meeting on Thursday.
According to officials, a majority of the members will be introducing the ordinance, which was first announced at an event earlier this week.

The ordinance would cap rent increases by 4% with exemptions if needed.
Mayor Brett Smiley has already said he's against rent control and plans to veto the ordinance.
The meeting will be held at the Providence City Hall at 6 p.m.
