MassDOT to implement detours for I-195/Route 18 project

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WJAR) — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said that new detours would be added to the Interstate 195/ Route 18 Interchange Rehabilitation Project from Jan. 25 to Feb. 8.
The department said the closures and detours would be implemented "as needed."
The closure of North Front Street between Washburn Street and Cedar Grove Street will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as needed.
Northbound drivers will be detoured as follows:
- Continue on Washburn Street.
- Turn left onto Belleville Avenue.
- Turn left onto Cedar Grove Street.
Southbound drivers will be detoured as follows:
- Continue on Cedar Grove Street.
- Turn right onto Belleville Avenue.
- Turn right onto Kilburn Street.
The closure of Cedar Grove Street between County Street and Purchase Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning will be implemented as needed.
During the week of Feb. 16, daytime work occurs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. as needed.
Northbound drivers will be detoured as follows:
- Continue onto Purchase Street.
- Turn left onto Coggeshall Street.
- Turn left onto County Street.
- Turn right onto Cedar Grove Street.
Southbound drivers will be detoured as follows:
- Continue onto Purchase Street.
- Turn right onto Weld Street.
- Turn right onto County Street.
- Turn left onto Cedar Grove Street.
