The Foxborough Police Department said it was investigating the sale and delivery of a large amount of motor oil by an allegedly fraudulent company.

Police said that a business reported to police that on Dec. 27, 2025 it fulfilled a sale of "two large orders" of motor oil totaling almost $12,000.

Police said the credit card used to purchase the oil was stolen from an out-of-state victim.

Police then tracked the oil to a business in Providence, which believed it had purchased it from a legitimate wholesaler and not an allegedly fraudulent company.

The company turned over the 136 cases of oil, which police said was valued at over $6,000.

Police said an investigation determined the financial trail of the fraud potentially had ties to the Dominican Republic.

Providence police assisted with the investigation.
