A 16-year-old Providence resident has been arrested and is facing multiple charges in connection to a drive-by shooting that occurred on New Year's Eve.

That juvenile, whose name has not been released, allegedly fired multiple gunshots into a house on Pleasant Street in the city at 9:22 that night.

Cranston Police say that a woman and two young children were in the home at the time, though none of them were hurt.

A police investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly was targeting the other residence in the duplex that was fired into.

Police say they were able to locate the suspect and seize a gun after an investigation. Forensic testing revealed that the gun seized was the one used in the shooting, according to Cranston Police.

The juvenile is charged with drive-by shooting, possession of a firearm by a minor, and firing in a compact area.
