The country superstar admitted that she had some reservations prior to recording “Before He Cheats” telling People, “I remember even when we were talking about recording that song, it was kind of like, ‘Oh, is this too aggressive?’”

The “American Idol” winner was worried lyrics like “pretty little souped up four-wheel drive” and carving “my name into his leather seats,” would ruin her wholesome image.

“Because I was like a sweet farm girl on [American Idol] — and I hope that’s who I still am — but it was almost, ‘Maybe we don’t do this song,’” she explained.

Clearly, Carrie made the right choice by recording the song, as it went on to be a smash hit and a song that would identify her career when it was released in November 2005 off her debut album “Some Hearts.”

She added, “Everybody loved it so much, we went for it and it worked. But, yeah, 20 years later, we still see people perform it, and it’s a lot of fun.”

She also admits that her children have found the song and she finds them humming the tune.

“I recently was vacuuming my house, and when I turned the vacuum off [there was] a noise coming from my bedroom and I was like, ‘It’s music,’” the singer said, revealing that she recognized it the moment she got closer. “And I walk in there and my 6-year-old [Jacob] is lying on my bed watching my music video. And I was like, ‘What are you doing?’ And he’s like, ‘Nothing.’”

She reveals that her son “started going down the rabbit hole of my old music videos.”

Carrie and her former hockey player husband, Mike Fisher, married in 2010 and went on to welcome two sons, Isaiah, 10, and Jacob, 7.
