MINNEAPOLIS (TNND) — A suspect who allegedly stole federal government property out of an FBI vehicle in Minneapolis on Wednesday was arrested, according to FBI Director Kash Patel.
Patel said the suspect is a member of the Latin Kings gang with a known violent criminal history.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) identified the suspect as Raul Gutierrez, 33, of Minneapolis. DOJ said he broke into an FBI vehicle and stole a rifle.
"There will be more arrests. Again: any individual who attacks law enforcement or vandalizes federal property paid for by hardworking taxpayers will be found and arrested," Patel wrote on X.
The agency was offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information related to the vandalism and theft.
Three photos were posted in an FBI flyer Patel show, including one that appeared to show broken glass on the driver's seat of a federal vehicle. Other images showed explicit language spray-painted on the vehicles.
Patel said the alleged crimes occurred after DHS announced a federal officer shot an illegal immigrant in the leg because he was attacked with a shovel or broom while the officer was trying to make an arrest
If you harm law enforcement or destroy / steal federal property, this @FBI will not hesitate to pursue you, find you, and bring you to the fullest extent of justice," Patel wrote on X.
Attorney General Pam Bondi noted that the suspect stole FBI body armor and weaponry.
"This criminal is a perfect example of what our brave federal law enforcement agents are up against every day as Minnesota leadership ENCOURAGES lawbreaking," Bondi said.
Patel previously announced that a suspect was arrested after he smashed windows at the Minneapolis Courthouse during a protest following the deadly shooting of Renee Nicole Good last week. Patel identified the suspect as Georgio James-Jones, of Minneapolis.
Video shared on social media appears to show James-Jones, as well as several other ICE rioters who were seen pounding on the doors of the Diana E. Murphy federal courthouse.
"ICE out now," the protesters are heard yelling as they bang on the windows and revolving door.
A little more than one-minute into the video, glass is heard shattering. There is a brief pause in the chanting before the group resumes hollering, blowing whistles and banging drums.
"As we’ve said repeatedly -- if you attack law enforcement, impede their operations, or engage in violent destructive behavior, this FBI will find you and bring you to justice," Patel wrote on X.
