DHS features 13 ICE arrests from Maine on new 'Worst of the Worst' website

The Department of Homeland Security announced on Thursday a new website they're calling the "Worst of the Worst."

It's a searchable database, where you can type in your state and read about some of those arrested by ICE.

So far, just 13 people are listed from Maine.

  • Irvin Zephurin, from St. Lucia, was arrested in Biddeford for assault.
  • Darvin Peguero Ruiz, from the Dominican Republic, was arrested in Wiscasset for selling of amphetamine and property crimes.
  • Khang Tan Tran, from Vietnam, was arrested in Warren for possession of cocaine and dangerous drug selling.
  • Ali Ali, from Somalia, was arrested in Lewiston for aggravated assault with a weapon, theft and use of vehicle, simple assault, marijuana possession, and obstructing police.
  • Ivan Niyoyitungira, from Burundi, was arrested in Portland for aggravated assault with a weapon.
  • Marlene Eliana Santaella, from Argentina, was arrested in Portland for larceny and receiving stolen property.
  • Fernandez Agusto Alcantara-Aguero, from the Dominican Republic, was arrested in Alfred for conspiracy and selling heroin.
  • Zhangqi Xie, from China, was arrested in Portland for failure to report a crime.
  • Khem Noyphayna, from Laos, was arrested in Scarborough for aggravated assault of a family, strongarm, burglary, and larceny.
  • Charlene Vermaak, from South Africa, was arrested in Alfred for selling amphetamine.
  • Diorerys de la Rosa Castillo, from the Dominican Republic, was arrested in Machias for selling cocaine.
  • Charles Ali, from Sudan, was arrested in Easton for selling and trafficing cocaine.
  • Jhoan Mina Lopez, from Colombia, was arrested in Wiscasset for burglary, forced entry-residence, and conspiracy.

The site shows arrests stretching from Biddeford to Machias.

DHS says the 13 people are convicted criminals, for charges like assault and selling drugs.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin released a statement about the database Thursday.

“The Trump administration is removing murderers, pedophiles, terrorists and other criminals from communities across the country. Our message is clear: we will protect the American people, no matter where they live.”
