5 people arrested after Indiana judge and wife shot in home
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WSBT/TNND) — Five people are now facing charges after an Indiana judge and his wife were shot and injured at their Lafayette home on Sunday afternoon.
On Thursday, the Lafayette Police Department named the suspects arrested and listed their charges.
Three men face multiple charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and gang enhancement.
- Raylen Ferguson, 38, Lexington, Ky.
- Thomas Moss, 43, Lafayette, Ind.
- Blake Smith, 32, Lafayette, Ind.
Two women were also charged in connection with the shooting with charges of bribery, obstruction of justice and assisting a criminal.
- Amanda Milsap, 45, Lafayette, Ind.
- Zenada Greer, 61, Lexington, Ky.
Tippecanoe County Judge Steven Meyer was shot in the arm and his wife, Kimberly Meyer, was shot in the hip on Sunday, according to the Lafayette Police Department.
On Wednesday, the police department shared that Kimberly Meyer was released from the hospital on Sunday. Judge Steven Meyer remains under medical care but continues to heal.
He released a statement which reads, "I am so grateful for the outpouring of support from friends, the community, court colleagues and law enforcement. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to my medical team. I am receiving excellent care and I am improving. Kim is also deeply appreciative for the community support and she too is healing."
I want the community to know that I have strong faith in our judicial system. This horrific violence will not shake my belief in the importance of peacefully resolving disputes. I remain confident we have the best judicial system in the world and I am proud to be a part of it."
Police said they responded around 2:17 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 1700 block of Mill Pond Lane and found two adults suffering from gunshot wounds. Shell casings were also found at the scene.
