State Representative Joe Solomon Jr. has joined the race to become Rhode Island's next Attorney General.

Solomon, a Democrat, is the fourth candidate to join the Democratic primary to replace outgoing Attorney General Peter Neronha, joining fellow representative Jason Knight, Keith Hoffmann, Neronha's former chief of policy and Kim Ahern, a former special assistant attorney general.

In his announcement, Solomon touted over 15 years of legal experience, saying that in that time he has worked as a court-appointed bail commissioner and has prosecuted cases in the Warwick Solicitor's office.

Solomon said that his top priorities as Attorney General would be protecting Rhode Islanders from scammers, corporate consolidation and predatory insurance practices, ensuring violent criminals face accountability, and protecting the state from federal overreaches.

The representative also touted an endorsement from Senate Majority Whip David Tikoian.

Solomon is the son of former Warwick mayor Joe Solomon. He was first elected to the General Assembly in November of 2014.
