Fall River elementary school paraprofessional accused of assaulting student

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WJAR) — Fall River police said a paraprofessional employed by a Fall River elementary school was arrested on multiple assault charges.
According to police, they investigated allegations of abuse involving a school member and a juvenile student at Carlton Viveiros Elementary School.
Officials said 25-year-old Natasha Burgo was arrested following the investigation.
Fall River police said Burgo is facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a child under 14, assault and battery on a person with an intellectual disability, and two counts of assault and battery.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
A Carlton Viveiros Elementary School said families were notified of the incident in a letter and the staff was placed on leave.
School officials also encouraged anyone with concerns or questions to contact the principal directly by calling the school.
