Want to feel like Elsa, Anna, and Olaf in the 2013 Disney instant classic Frozen? Well, now you can live out your frozen fantasy and “let it go” at an ice-filled wonderland in Silverthorne, Colorado.

Amazing America’s Hunter Hulbert continues his Amazing Itineraries: Colorado adventure with a trip to Ice Castles, a “snow day” dream come true.

Ice Castles is a temporary winter experience built using thousands of hand-placed icicles. You can meander your way through ice tunnels, caverns, ice slides, and more, all of them illuminated with LED lights to add to the magic. Don’t miss the Frozen Tap Ice Bar, which serves up ice-themed beverages inside the castle.

The concept was born 15 years ago in Utah when its founder, Brent Christensen, started building backyard ice structures for his kids. By the time he was done, he patented the process used to build the Ice Castles attractions.

There are several Ice Castles attractions across the U.S. and Canada, but the Silverthorne, Colorado, location was his first commercial site and remains iconic.

The family-friendly ice adventure typically opens in late December and, like “Frosty the Snowman,” remains as long as weather permits.

Stay tuned as Hunter continues his Amazing Itineraries: Colorado adventure with more stops.
