Michael McKee indicted in deaths of Spencer & Monique Tepe

Michael McKee, the ex-husband of Monique Tepe, has been indicted by a Franklin County grand jury.

The five-count indictment handed down Friday includes four counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated burglary.

In indictment documents released by the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office, McKee is stated to have had "a firearm that was equipped with a firearm muffler or suppressor on or about his person or under his control while committing the offense," the documents stated.

All the counts in the indictment included a 3-year firearm specification for using a gun to commit aggravated murder, as well as a 6-year firearm specification for using a firearm suppressor.

The Tepes were found dead inside their Weinland Park home on Dec. 30. McKee was arrested Saturday in Rockford, Illinois. He appeared in court Monday, where he waived his right to an extradition hearing and will soon return to Columbus.

Columbus police discussed the investigation during a news conference on Thursday, where both Chief Elaine Bryant and Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther issued statements. Neither could answer specific questions, citing the ongoing investigation.

It was confirmed during that news conference that McKee was the man seen walking in an alley behind the Tepe home in video released by CPD during the early stages of the investigation.

The indictment states that if McKee is convicted, he will face "a minimum of life in prison with parole eligibility after 32 years and a maximum term of life in prison without the possibility of parole," the document said.

McKee is locked up in Winnebago County Jail in Illinois and awaits extradition to Franklin County.
