Woman charged with DUI after crash involving Newport police cruiser

NEWPORT, R.I. (WJAR) — The Newport Police Department said a woman was charged with driving under the influence after a crash involving a police cruiser on Sunday.
38-year-old Erin Moitoza was charged with DUI and duty to stop for a motor vehicle accident.
The department said the crash occurred around midnight on Eustis Avenue and Bliss Road.
An officer was monitoring traffic in the area when Moitoza allegedly hit the back of his cruiser and then fled the scene.
She was then stopped by the officer around the corner from the crash and was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
The officer was also treated and released for minor injuries.
