Friends, family, state and local leaders gathered to celebrate.
U.S. Sen. Jack Reed said he was honored to join the celebration for a member of the Greatest Generation.
"They had the courage, they had the dedication to this country and its deals to risk their lives. Roger's a combat infantry man. He had a CIB. That means he wasn't in the back pushing papers," he said.
The birthday celebration was held at the North Providence Mancini Center.
