John Perik joined the NBC 10 News team in December 2023 as a multimedia journalist.

Born and raised in Jamestown, John is thrilled to be working in his beloved home state telling the stories closest to his heart.

John recently graduated from Syracuse University studying Broadcast and Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. On campus, he worked as a senior reporter and anchor at CitrusTV, Syracuse University’s student-run television station. John has covered many notable stories at CitrusTV, including former President Trump’s first indictment in New York City and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s 2022 Election Night Watch Party, as well as hosting an exclusive interview with former New England Patriot Julian Edelman discussing combatting antisemitism in sports.

John’s work at SU won a series of national student journalism awards, including first place in the 2024 White House News Photographer Association’s Eyes of History contest and first place in the 2024 Hearst Journalism Awards TV Features Competition. The latter qualifies John for the Hearst Journalism Awards National Championship in San Francisco in June, where he will be representing Syracuse University for the third consecutive year.

John first joined NBC 10 as a news intern during the summer of 2022. In 2023, he interned at WCVB NewsCenter 5 in Boston.

During John’s free time you can find him golfing in Middletown or at a Newport Gulls baseball game!
